The Understanding Unbelief programme is a new and unprecedented £2.3m study at the University of Kent that aims to advance the scientific understanding of atheism,
agnosticism and other forms of so-called religious ‘unbelief’.
We are currently advertising a Doctoral Award PhD studentship and would be grateful if you could circulate the information below to your students and others who may be
interested.
Kindest Regards

Programme Administrator
*****
The Understanding Unbelief programme is very pleased to announce that we are advertising a Doctoral Award PhD studentship.
Applications are welcome from anyone with a strong academic track record in a relevant discipline (e.g. sociology, anthropology, social or cultural history, religious studies)
who is able to demonstrate a strong interest in the programme theme as well as the range of skills necessary for this kind of collaborative project.
The Understanding Unbelief programme, hosted by the University of Kent and funded by a generous grant from the John Templeton Foundation, is the first major scientific
research programme to address the nature and variety of religious ‘unbelief’.
The programme activities aim to produce the first scientifically coherent account of ‘unbelief’ and of what it means to be an ‘unbeliever’, as well as laying the groundwork
for future research into the causes of unbelief and the impact of unbelieving on outcomes such as personal wellbeing and social cohesion.
The deadline for applications is
Friday 12 May 2017

Please feel free to circulate this opportunity throughout your networks.
Kind regards
